Tricks for the orientation day?

Foshan China

The orientation day in every autumn carries unusual meaning for every parent in every corner of the world. After the summer holiday, it’s time for children to enter a higher grade. Everyone’s mood is complicated on that day, accompanied by parents’ and children’s worries. Let’s just talk about how it will be on the orientation day among home and abroad schools.

The orientation day in Foshan is “so interesting”. In order to prepare for this day, parents usually make a particular effort, making that distinctive day full of fun.

Before the orientation day, many parents may buy plenty of stationery for their kids, but it may still lack the one that teachers require.

In Foshan, children will attend the First Writing Ceremony before orientation day, and teachers will use the cinnabar Chinese brush to dot a mole on children’s foreheads, which indicates wisdom opening. It’s a way for parents to wish their children a smooth learning career.

September 1 is not only a national orientation day, but also the beginning of the traditional program “First School Lesson”. The program has different themes in every year, and middle and primary school students will watch this program together on that day, conveying a strong sense of patriotism.

On the very day that children start the new semester, many schools will hold school opening ceremonies and give the first lesson to students by means of lion dance performance, Chinese classics reading, instrumental performance and etc.

Some mothers will prepare water chestnut cake for children, which implies making progress continuously. Sometimes some parents also combine the water chestnuts with pears to make the sense of “clever and quick-witted”in Chinese.

Last but not the least, it’s believed that almost every student in Foshan will receive a red packet from their parents on the orientation day, and the red packet should not be opened until the end of the semester, otherwise it’s unlucky.

Every country differs in customs on the orientation day. Then how will the students abroad spend this special day? Let’s have a look!

France: Borrowing textbooks from the library

On the first school day, parents will attend the school’s opening ceremony together with their children. In China, students can get new books on the first school day, while it will never be realized among frugal French students, because all primary and junior high school students in France borrow textbooks from libraries for free and return them to the library at the end of the semester. This free textbook recycling system has existed in France for about one hundred years.

Japan: disaster prevention education never be left behind

September 1 is an extraordinary day in Japan. It’s not only the first school day for students, but also the national “Disaster Prevention Day”. Disaster prevention and relief activities are carried out on this day throughout the country. As the first lesson of school, arranging students’ refuge is an important part of disaster prevention training.

Russia:“Victory Class” will hit the first school day

Russian students will begin their first unique class “Victory Class” on the first school day to receive education about victory history of the nation. In addition, flowers are very common gifts in Russia. Students will prepare fresh flowers for teachers on that day to thank them for long-time care and education.

Germany: Students receive “gifts”

German students can also receive gifts on that day! On the day that students go to school for registration, parents will send a paper megaphone to their children, and children will open it after class grouping. So on that day, many students holding colorful paper megaphones in their hands and wearing small satchels will appear on the street. Apart from candies, there are also color pens, pencil sharpener and small toys in the paper megaphone.
