On September 6th, the 2020 Vocational Skills Competition of Cantonese Cuisine Chefs and the Best Chancheng Chefs and Dishes Competition came to an end. The two contests, which lasted for half a month, unveiled 10 “Chancheng Famous Chefs” and 14 “Chancheng Famous Dishes”.

The “Cantonese Chefs · Chancheng Flavor”-themed competitions started in August and were immediately welcomed by the catering industry.
In this high-level culinary art competition, 150 chefs and 17 cooking teams from well-known catering enterprises presented the public with a half-month feast for the eyes and taste buds.
Contestants demonstrated their superb culinary skills, giving a wonderful interpretation of the unique charm of “Cantonese cuisine”. The “Dancing” Fried Pine-nut-shaped Fish, Sweet and Sour Pork, fresh and crispy Shakou Bamboo Shoots— a real sumptuous banquet!
After fierce competition, Jiang Xincan won the first prize in the individual contest, and 10 catering enterprises, including Foshan Taoyuan Yipin Catering Co., Ltd., won the first, second and third prizes in the team contest.
Based on the results of expert evaluation and online voting, Guangdong Sanbao Spareribs, Fried Dalian Abalone with Spring Onions, Goose Soup Rice Noodles and 11 other dishes were awarded the name of “Chancheng Famous Dishes”. Feng Zhiquan, Jiang Xincan and Guo Yuanzeng and 7 other chefs were awarded the title of “Chancheng Famous Chefs”.
Training “Cantonese Cuisine Chefs” in Foshan
The vocational skills competition has enhanced communication and exchange in the catering industry, providing a platform for food culture promotion. This year, Chancheng replaced the traditional chef training with culinary skill contest, aiming to build a high-quality team of “Cantonese Cuisine Chefs” in Chancheng and highly visible cultural brand of Chancheng “Cantonese Cuisine Chefs”.
At present, Foshan is promoting the construction of Cantonese cuisine chefs’ “1+5” project. Taking advantage of vital resources in central urban areas, Chancheng is launching the “3+3” gourmet’s zone project, planning to construct 3 municipal landmark gourmet zones located in Lingnan Tiandi, Glory Singping Li, and Foshan Creative Industry Park.
The “Cantonese Cuisine Chefs” Project is a systematic project requiring long-time efforts. Based on earlier study and preparation, 6 “Cantonese Cuisine Chefs” Practice Bases were approved for construction in the gourmet’s zones. 6 “Cantonese Cuisine Chefs” Master Studios are established as well.
Next, Chancheng will accelerate the development of the catering service industry, constructing fully-equipped gourmet zones with distinctive features, building qualified, skillful Cantonese cooking teams. These approved “Cantonese Cuisine Chefs” Training Bases and “Cantonese Cuisine Chefs” Master Studios will play a significant role in the training of chefs, helping make Foshan a world-famous “City of Cantonese Cuisine and Chefs”.
