On the evening of December 4, the opening ceremony and promotion sharing meeting of the 2020 International Outdoor Documentary Film Festival of China (OUTDOCS) was held in the Qiandenghu Lake Park in Guicheng. That night, the evaluation result of the outdoor documentary films was released, and seven films have won eight awards this year.
In the interactive form of "online collection + offline evaluation + supporting activities", this year's OUTDOCS has integrated theme speech, industrial forum, cinephile salon, outdoor talent sharing meeting, outdoor sports experience and outdoor safety training altogether, realizing an all-round coverage of outdoor sports, film and television, culture and tourism.
As the sole international collection platform for outdoor documentaries in China, the 2020 OUTDOCS has received a total of 1,228 works from 102 countries and regions within 80 days.
Li Yan, Standing Member of the CPC Nanhai District Committee and Minister of the CPC Nanhai District Propaganda Department, said that the settlement of the 2020 OUTDOCS in Nanhai was not only a recognition of the urban development in Nanhai, but also a good opportunity for Nanhai to expand international cultural exchanges and cooperation.
Despite the impact of the COVID-19 epidemic, the quantity and quality of films participating in this year’s OUTDOCS have been greatly improved compared with last year. The categories, no longer limited to outdoor sports, were more abundant. Audience could enjoy the visual impacts brought by outdoor sports from different perspectives via films.
During the activity, nine domestic and foreign outdoor documentaries were shown, which has enriched people's life experience and broken cognitive limitations on outdoor sports. People have enjoyed excellent international outdoor documentaries in Foshan.
Experiential activities were also held during the festival, including "the First Kayaking Lesson", "XCOM Frisbee Experience" and other activities, in which audience could experience the fun of outdoor sports. There were parkour, skateboard, slackline, bicycles and other live performances, as well as an all-day outdoor bazaar with more than 30 well-known outdoor brands. A number of representatives from sports and film industries also held theme forums and personal sharing meetings on site.
