On July 11, the biggest maximum-diameter soil-pressure balanced shield tunneling machine independently developed by China got off the general assembly line in the workshop of China Railway Huasui United Heavy Equipment Co Ltd in Foshan Shunde, which will be used in the deep buried rainwater tunnel project of Dubai World Expo 2020.
The shield tunneling machine with a diameter of 11.05 meters and a total length of about 85 meters has a total weight of about 2000 tons, which is the largest-diameter soil-pressure shield tunneling machine exported from China. It will be used in the DS233/2 buried rainwater tunnel project in Dubai. As an underground drainage system project for Dubai cities, the project is near the site of Dubai World Expo 2020. After the project is completed, it will carry the task of collecting and discharging rain water of Dubai World Center, World Expo pavilion and surrounding areas.
Some project-related parties such as the Dubai Municipal Government, the contractor Porr Group and the construction company Besix Group witnessed the proud moment of Chinese manufacturing. Tan Shunhui, secretary of the Party Committee and chairman of China Railway Engineering Equipment Group Co Ltd introduced that the enterprise has increased investment in scientific research and technological innovation in recent years, and they have fully mastered the autonomous machine design and manufacturing technology, ranking first for 6 consecutive years in enterprise comprehensive strength and market share.
China Railway Huasui United Heavy Equipment Co Ltd is a high-end equipment manufacturing company, which can produce 50 shield tunneling machines every year and it owns the the capacity of a maximum diameter 18-meter shield tunneling machine. It was reported that China Railway Huasui United Heavy Equipment Co Ltd has launched more than 10 shield tunneling machines in the Pearl River Delta railway construction project, and 3 of which have already been put in Foshan metro line 3, becoming the city’s leading representative of high-end equipment manufacturing industry.
