Foshan - Qiandongnan Cultural and Tourism Weeks has been kicked off on July 2, as a way to thrive tourism industry on both Foshan and Qiandongnan, a scenic prefecture in southwest China. Tons of colorful events have been put on the agenda, including dragon boat racing. Good news came on July 5 that Foshan took home two gold medals on 500-meter straight racing by dragon boat and dragon-shaped canoe.
The one-of-a-kind dragon-shape canoe is originated in Shibing, Guizhou, boasting of a long history. In recent years, the launching ceremony of “longest wooden-made dragon boat in the world” has become a must-visit project for tourists.
More importantly, the cultural and tourism week can be seen as a valuable chance to exchange culture and build a closer tie between two cities.
