Thinking of taking a stroll in an artistic place? The Art Field Nanhai Guangdong 2024 is a best choice for you! On November 16, it officially commenced against the picturesque backdrop of Tingyin Lake in Xiqiao Town, Nanhai District, Foshan City, and it will be on display until February 12, 2025. A series of site-specific art projects by artists from around the world are now available for the public to enjoy.
Spanning three months, this year's event is themed "Art at Qiaoshan" , aiming to present a rich artistic experience through local, international, and interdisciplinary creations. The event highlights the historical depth of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area's development and the unique charm of Xiqiao.
Building on the success of the inaugural Art Field Festival, this year's event has expanded from Xiqiao Town to nearby Jiujiang Town, featuring 10 distinct artistic zones. The festival showcases 95 projects and over 200 artworks created by 194 artists from 30 countries.
The overarching theme, "Be Like Water", explores how water has shaped Nanhai's past, present, and future through a multidimensional lens: "water culture, water ecology, water transportation, water economy, and water lifestyle." The festival illustrates the symbiotic relationship between water and the people of Nanhai, highlighting their resilience and adaptive wisdom inspired by water's flow.
While retaining several original locations, the festival introduces new artistic landmarks, expanding the exhibition area to 271.87 square kilometers with 5 curated art routes and 4 waterborne tours. A new "Artfield Workshop" was launched, featuring region-specific innovations like "Nanhai Colors," "Culinary Maps," and "Lion Dance 2.0."
