Recently, a high-quality patent promotion and technology innovation observation event in the field of road transportation was held in Foshan. Over 300 participants attended, including officials from intellectual property and road traffic departments, researchers from universities, and representatives from venture capital institutions.
At the event, the first domestic Road Science and Technology Museum officially began its preparation phase at the National University Science Park of South China University of Technology (SCUT). The museum will integrate the functions of a museum, science and technology center, and exhibition hall, with four key areas: exhibition, technology culture, interactive experience, and management. It aims to become a leading science museum both domestically and internationally, integrating public education, academic research, and exhibitions in road engineering.
SCUT has always placed great emphasis on scientific research and the transformation of innovation. In the field of road transportation, the university has produced numerous forward-looking and practical research achievements. In 2018, Central Fortune Creation (Canton) Roadway Technology Co., Ltd (CFC Roadway Tech) was established in Sanlongwan, led by Yu Jiangmiao, the Vice Dean of SCUT's School of Civil and Transportation Engineering and founder of CFC Roadway Tech. The company quickly became a trailblazer in road engineering technology, breaking foreign monopolies with its self-developed high-performance asphalt materials and ultra-thin pavement technology.
Currently, CFC Roadway Tech's technologies and related products have been applied in over 100 key projects, including the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge, Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport, Shanghai Yan'an Road, Macau A-ma Square, and the National Medal Museum in Beijing. These projects span 26 provinces, municipalities, and special administrative regions, covering more than 30 million square meters.
On the same day, under the guidance of the China Highway Society, SCUT and CFC Roadway Tech announced their collaboration to build the country's first Road Science and Technology Museum.
Li Weiqing, Vice President of SCUT remarked that the construction of the Road Science and Technology Museum is a significant event not only for China but also for the global road engineering sector. SCUT will provide full support in terms of academic resources, talent development, financial investment, and infrastructure to ensure the museum is built and operated to the highest standards.
Once completed, the Road Science and Technology Museum will serve as a platform for showcasing the latest achievements and technologies in road engineering, and become an incubator for technological innovation, a bridge for cultural exchange, a training ground for talent, and a center for knowledge dissemination.
In the future, the museum will build on SCUT's expertise in road engineering and CFC Roadway Tech's advanced asphalt technology. It will foster collaboration with top universities, research institutes, and businesses, promoting both technological innovation and public science education, while contributing to the nation's efforts to strengthen its transportation and technological capabilities.
