On January 21, Foshan Metro Line 2 interchange pathway was put into operationat 5:50 am.

After thecompletion, passengers from Foshan Metro Line 2 could directly interchange with Guangzhou Metro system without leaving the station. It is expected that the interchange distance between Foshan Metro system and Guangzhou Metro system will be down to 500 meters, saving 300 meters in walking and 4 minutes in time.

For passengers from Foshan Metro Line 2, they could arrive Guangzhou South Railway Station via the Exit D after passing the interchange pathway. Meanwhile, they could also exit the Foshan Metro platform from the Exit R & S, then arrive the station to catch the high-speed rail.

In terms of the passengers from high-speed rail, they could enter GuangzhouMetro platform via Exit C, E, G, J, K and L, then arrive Foshan Metro platform by crossing the interchange pathway. The walking distance is about 500 meters, which would roughly take 6 minutes.

Additionally, the ticket fee for cross-city metro is adjusted, with the price for several routes drop. For instance, the maximal ticket fee for passengers traveled from Foshan Metro Line 2 to Guangzhou Metro System is lowered from 18 yuan to 14 yuan.
