Bustling Temple Fair Celebrates North Deity's Birthday in Foshan

On April 11, the Foshan Ancestral Temple Fair kicked off in Chancheng District. As the North Deity majestically paraded through the streets, the entire city came alive, drawing crowds of thousands.



The Ancestral Temple Festival, a cultural extravaganza deeply rooted in Foshan's heritage, combines traditional rituals, showcases of intangible cultural heritage, and vibrant tourism attractions. Renowned as one of Foshan's signature cultural events, it has become a highlight on the city's cultural calendar.


Dignified Ceremonial Rituals: Witness the solemn procession of the North Deity's entourage, characterized by its grandeur and reverence.


Vibrant Parade: Spanning a route of 2.5 kilometers, the parade featured over a thousand performers organized into 11 captivating processional groups. From traditional Cantonese opera and lion dances to martial arts demonstrations and folk art displays, the parade showcased the rich tapestry of Foshan's cultural heritage.


Exciting Performances: Alongside the procession, designated performance areas enriched the festivities with professional commentary and dynamic cultural performances, including ethnic dances and martial arts displays.
