During the Mid-Autumn Festival, a series of exciting events illuminated Foshan's night, with all five districts offering cultural feasts showcasing intangible cultural heritage.
On September 16, the 18th Shishan Town Luocun Filial Piety Cultural Carnival—"Burning Pagoda" folk event took place at Fanta Square in Shangbai Community, Shishan Town, Nanhai District.
Every year on the 14th day of the eighth lunar month, Shangbai Community holds the "Burning Pagoda" event, a tradition with over 600 years of history. Today, this custom has evolved into a hallmark event for the community, where people of all ages gather to celebrate Mid-Autumn by burning the tower, praying for favorable weather and prosperity.
This year, the fire tower stood about 6 meters tall, and was built with over 3,000 new bricks, taking an entire day to construct. As the tower burned red-hot, flames began to shoot through the small holes, and participants used tools to stir the burning brush, sending fire shooting several meters into the night sky in a stunning display.

On the night of September 17, traditional fire dragon dances, a century-old custom, took place in several villages of Chancheng District's Nanzhuang Town to wish for good weather and national prosperity. The event was packed with the ceremony and filled with festive atmosphere.
At 8 PM, in front of the Shangyuan Fire Dragon Dance Cultural Hall, the sound of drums and gongs filled the air as villagers, tourists, and returning locals gathered, eager to insert incense into the fire dragon for blessings.

With the cry of "Raise the Dragon", the fire dragon dance—a provincial intangible cultural heritage with hundreds of years of history—officially began. Over 200 villagers worked together to perform with the nearly 100-meter-long dragon, parading it through the village.

As fireworks sparked around the dragon, it twisted and turned, with performers showcasing moves like "Dragon's Leisurely Walk," "Divine Dragon Crossing the Sea," and "Dragon's Tail Swing," thrilling the audience with their skill. Following the fire dragon, lion dances, dragon dances, and drum performances extended the celebration, creating a spectacular sight.
Many tourists traveled from afar to Nanzhuang to witness the fire dragon dance, immersing themselves in the charm of traditional folk culture and enjoying the rich festival atmosphere.
