Projects worth 380m RMB signed at CICPE to promote GD's cooperation with Hainan, overseas markets

The 4th China International Consumer Products EXPO (CICPE) opened in Hainan on April 13. On the afternoon of the 13th, the Guangdong Provincial Department of Commerce held the 2024 Guangdong Industrial Investment Promotion Conference in Haikou, introducing a number of Guangdong brands and companies to the world.


A project signing event was also held at the promotion conference. Eight companies signed contracts for projects involving product procurement, market cooperation, and brand co-creation, with a total value amount reaching 380 million yuan.


"Since 2021, our company Chen Liji has signed cooperation agreements with Hainan enterprises at the CICPE for four consecutive years. Currently, we opened four Chen Liji's Chenpi (Pericarpium Citri Reticulatae) offline stores, and the market has been enthusiastic," said Chen Dan, marketing director of Guangzhou Chen Liji Health Industry Co., LTD. She believed that Hainan and Guangdong, which had the same cultural origin, have always had a close connection. Chen Liji is a time-honored brand of traditional Chinese medicine, while Xinhui Chenpi counts among the top ten ingredients in traditional Chinese medicine. Since the consumer groups in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Greater Bay Area and Hainan Free Trade Port have a penchant for keeping good health with the traditional Chinese medicine, it is easier for them to accept the brand.


"By participating in this exhibition, we struck strategic cooperation deals worth RMB 50 million with Hainan enterprises, which means that Chen Liji will continue to expand in the Hainan market," said Chen. She was optimistic about the major opportunities brought by the policies of the Hainan Free Trade Port. "It can bring together global boutique products and attract consumers. Developed information interaction and large tourist groups are very beneficial to time-honored brands and culture."


"Last year we participated in the Consumer Expo for the first time and felt the strong vitality of the CICPE platform," said Zhang Sheng, Executive Director of Fuyin (China) Trading Co., Ltd. "Not only did we see the most recent international consumer trends here, but we also learned from cooperation with the exhibiting companies. I have met many customers here." He believed that the cooperation at CICPE could showcase sports brands from Guangdong, further expand the international market. Also it was beneficial to the global layout of the garment industry in the Greater Bay Area.


The promotion conference also included 29 new investment and trade cooperation projects between Guangdong and Hainan and overseas countries and regions, with a total economic and trade cooperation amount of approximately 2.19 billion yuan.


Guangdong has issued documents to promote foreign investment, such as "20 Measures for Attracting Investment" and "17 Measures for Foreign Investment in Manufacturing," which will reduce the burden on enterprises by more than 200 billion yuan in 2023. This year, a number of new business-friendly policies will also be introduced to strengthen corporate innovation and reduce logistics costs.
