On March 27, the Midea Group's Innovation Technology Park project reached a significant milestone as the final concrete was poured, marking the completion of the main structure in Foshan's Sanlongwan Sci-Tech City. With this achievement, the project enters the construction phase of the ancillary works and secondary structures, signaling a new phase in the project's development.

The Innovation Technology Park project, with a total investment of 1.3 billion yuan, occupies an area of 41,500 square meters with a construction area of 118,000 square meters. The project is set to be operational by 2025. The technology park aims to closely align with national strategic needs, establishing a globally leading air conditioning innovation technology park and an industrial talent hub. It will become an integrated research base that fosters original achievements, significant breakthroughs, and the integration of academia and industry, propelling the transformation and upgrading of the global home appliance industry.

Project renderings

The planned layout of the park includes three laboratory complexes, each 43 meters high, and a comprehensive building standing at 54.5 meters. The site is set to accommodate over 100 supporting laboratories and more than 1,000 research and development personnel, focusing on four major experimental groups: home environment and energy management, thermal technology research, micro-mechanism research, and next-generation refrigeration technology." This endeavor aims not only to further consolidate Midea’s leading position in global household air conditioning but also to significantly promote the development of new productive forces in Sanlongwan.

According to Midea, upon completion, the project will focus on three major directions: carbon neutrality, air value, and smart homes. It will concurrently explore next-generation refrigeration technology, with a focus on breakthroughs in new refrigeration and flexible energy technologies for household use. Through initiatives spanning refrigeration technology, high-efficiency home energy storage and allocation technology, and smart management technology, the project seeks to independently develop and manufacture new refrigeration working fluids, formulate next-generation refrigeration technology replacement plans, and further promote the formation of new productive forces.

It is noteworthy that the park will collaborate with top domestic and international institutions such as Tsinghua University, Xi'an Jiaotong University, and Shanghai Jiaotong University to establish 20 world-leading laboratories.

To enhance urban quality and attract more businesses, Beijiao Town will steadfastly implement its urban development strategy. It aims to construct a city with more quality, taste, and appeal while enhancing its capacity to serve the people by making greater strides in education, healthcare, and culture. This commitment aims to bring more happiness and sense of fulfillment to residents and enterprises living and working in the area.
