Bred over a century ago, Shuiying Wax Gourd is a speciality in Shangxi Village, Jiujiang Town, Nanhai. Planted on the riverside, it is given a poetic Chinese name as Shuiying Wax Gourd (wax gourd with water shadow). With plentiful sunshine and water, this variety is better than others for its fresh taste and soft texture.
 

 

Introduced by the local, when this wax gourd grows to 1-1.5kg in weight and 4-fist in shape, it is the best time to pick. The harvest season generally falls on May to June. Since it is very sensitive to the growing environment, the daily output is merely 75-100 kilograms.

 

 

 

When summer comes, the local love to made dish with Shuiying Wax Gourd because they believe that this seasonal green with ample nutrient can help clean away internal heat and evil-dampness in scorching days.

 

 

Step:

1.Peel the wax gourd and cut it into 8 large pieces

2.Make a mince pie with 3 pieces of rutabaga, salty and oil

3.Put the mince pie on wax gourd and braise together
