Three Dragon Boat Teams from Nanhai Successfully Qualified for the 19th Asian Games

On the morning of April 10, the one-and-a-half-day national team qualification competition for the 19th Asian Games Dragon Boat event ended in Miluo, Hunan Province. After intense competition, all three Dragon Boat teams from Nanhai successfully qualified, accounting for one-fourth of the 12 qualifying teams.



Guangdong Province has formed two Dragon Boat teams with more than 60 members in total before the Spring Festival. After the Spring Festival, the two teams immediately began training and had a closed training in the Guangdong Provincial Water Sports Center in mid-February, which lasted until the qualification competition.



In the Dragon Boat competition at the 2018 Jakarta Asian Games, the Chinese team won two gold and two silver medals. Among the 32 Chinese athletes, all 16 female athletes were from the Jiujiang Dragon Boat Club, and the men's team consisted of 14 Lecong Dragon Boat Club players, one Jiujiang Dragon Boat Club player, and one player from the Northeast Electric Power University Dragon Boat Team.


The Jiujiang women's Dragon Boat team is an experienced and strong team. As the first professional women's Dragon Boat team in China, the team has won more than 400 medals since its establishment, including 267 gold medals, 87 silver medals, and 49 bronze medals. The team has represented the country 14 times in international Dragon Boat competitions, including the World Championships, Asian Championships, Asian Games.



Nanhai Dragon Boat Team's qualification race results:


Women's Dragon Boat Team won first and second place in the 200m and 1000m events, and first and third place in the 500m event.


Men's Dragon Boat Team achieved fourth place in the 200m event and third place in both the 500m and 1000m events.
