With the fishing moratorium period in the Pearl River Basin coming to an end, the fishing season in Foshan officially began from July 1.


2023 Sanshui Fishing Festival and River Food Cultural Festival


On July 1, 2023 Sanshui Fishing Festival and River Food Cultural Festival kicked off at Lubao Watergate Square, Sanshui. At the scene, there were 100 fishing boats on the lake ready to set sail for a fishing catching journey.



At the event, a grand fishing blessing ceremony was also held to pray for a smooth and prosperous year and a bountiful harvest for fishermen in the new year.



As a convergence point of three rivers, Sanshui is blessed with a unique variety of river food. Located in the northern part of Sanshui, Lubao Town is surrounded by Beijiang River and Lubao Creek, nurturing a range of distinctive river delicacies such as river prawns, river crabs, river clams, Marbled Sand Goby, Asian clam, etc.



Combining perfectly with the trendy elements of the aquatic museum and gourmet street, the event featured exhibitions, food tasting, music and sightseeing, showcasing an exceptional appeal to visitors.


In addition, a variety of spectacular activities, including "Fish King" auction, theme music party and night market, were also organized to showcase the rich cultural heritage and development of Lubao Town. At the music concert themed by "auspiciousness, local river food and classical Hong Kong music", timeless classics were performed in various genres including rock, folk, and pop, providing both locals and tourists with an unforgettable audio-visual experience of the charm of music and nature.



2023 Jiujiang Fishing Festival and Tourism Promotion of River Food


Surrounded by Xijiang River and Bejiang River, Jiujiang Town features a dense river network and numerous mulberry fish ponds. On July 1, the flag awarding ceremony held in Jiujiang marked the beginning of the fishing season.

Jiujiang, known as the "Hometown of Freshwater Fish Fry in China," is located in the hinterland of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, nurturing distinctive river delicacies such as Xijiang shrimp, Huangsha clam and Heshun fish. At the event, a river food market was organized, offering booths featuring river delicacies, pre-made dishes, and agricultural product sales and displays for interactive experience.
