Starting from February 6, inbound passengers taking the Guangzhou-Shenzhen-Hong Kong Express Rail Link from Hong Kong no longer need the negative COVID-19 test result if they haven't travelled overseas within the last seven days.

However, if they have travelled or lived overseas within the last seven days, they need to show a 48-hour negative COVID-19 test result to the Hong Kong SAR government before departure. Children aged three and under are exempt.

For those travelling from Guangzhou East Railway Station, Dongguan Railway Station and Dongguan South Railway Station to Hong Kong, a Mainland Travel Permit for Hong Kong and Macao Residents and Residence Permit for Hong Kong and Macao residents can be used to enter or leave the station either through the facial recognition system or the staffed channel.

To better serve cross-border travellers, Guangzhou South Railway Station has opened a special window to sell return tickets to Hong Kong West Kowloon, and has also conducted English, Mandarin and Cantonese training to staff members. Guangzhou East Railway Station has upgraded its real-name facial recognition system and automated ticket machines to allow passengers to enter using their ID card or Residence Permit for Hong Kong and Macao residents.

In addition, Shenzhen North Railway Station has appointed its main service staff and young volunteers to provide guidance to cross-border passengers at the entrance gates, ticket lobby, and waiting areas.
