Dr. Neil, also known as Huang Xiaolong, has become a respected figure among many aspiring young doctors in India. Each year, numerous Indian students come to China with the dream of becoming a good doctor, and Dr. Neil is one of them.

In 2018, Dr. Neil embarked on his medical journey in China, believing in the idea of making friends with each patient. Five years have passed, the range of his friendships has extended from medical professionals and patients to international talents and volunteers. Thus, he considers Sanlongwan as his "Friend" and "Brother". With the only purpose of helping more people, Dr. Neil takes multiple roles as the General Manager of Fosun Health International Cooperation Department for the Greater Bay Area, Director of the International Healing and Care Unit (IHCU), and Captain of the Foshan International Volunteer Service Team (FIVC).

Pursue medical dream in Foshan

In 2016, Dr. Neil was honored as an outstanding graduate with master's degree at Jilin University, which became his steppingstone to the medical field in China.

Two years later, Dr. Neil joined Foshan Fosun Chancheng Hospital. "Many medical students studying abroad choose to return to their countries for work. When I decided to return to China from India, I had some hesitations," confessed by Dr. Neil. Foreigners living in a foreign land must face a series of challenges, including cultural differences, language barriers, and building a new circle of friends. Fortunately, with the support from various parties, Dr. Neil quickly overcame these difficulties.

Recognizing the needs of foreigners living in China, Dr. Neil established the International Healing and Care Unit (IHCU). The IHCU aims to create a welcoming, equal, and comfortable healthcare environment for international residents in Foshan and the Greater Bay Area.

One memorable incident involved a patient who found herself alone in China, facing health issues along with language and cultural barriers. Distraught and emotionally overwhelmed, she reached out to Dr. Neil, who promptly responded to her call, providing the necessary support. Dr. Neil and his team continued to offer timely assistance. "You always talk to me like a family member," commented by many patients of Dr. Neil, which deeply touched Dr. Neil, reinforcing his upholding values of healing and the compassionate approach he embraces.

Join FIVC to pursue bigger dreams

Driven by the desire to extend his assistance beyond medical care, Dr. Neil joined and became the leader of the newly formed Foshan International Volunteer Service Team (FIVC) in early 2023. The team, spearheaded by the Foshan People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, the Volunteer Action Service Center, and the Foshan International Talents Hub (Sanlongwan), aimed to provide support and foster connections among Chinese and foreign individuals.

Dr. Neil always enthusiastically participated in activities such as dragon boat racing during the Dragon Boat Festival, cultural exchanges during the China-Europe Cultural Week, Foshan 50KM Hike, and lectures by foreign entrepreneurs in the Guangzhou-Foshan area. Driven by curiosity, he embraced the opportunity to experience the charm of traditional Chinese culture and immerse himself in the warmth of Foshan's friendly environment for foreigners.

As Dr. Neil continues his journey in Foshan, he remains dedicated to his vision of providing medical care and support to those in need while fostering friendships that transcends borders. His story serves as an inspiration to aspire doctors and volunteers alike, reminding us of the profound impact we can have on others' lives by extending a helping hand and treating each person as a dear friend.
