In 2022, Sanlongwan Sci-tech City has achieved new breakthroughs in building a world-class bay area. By continuously improving the innovation ability and infrastructure construction, it attracted high-end innovative and creative resources like talents, technologies and projects, developed modern service industries with characteristics such as exhibitions, and promoted cooperation with the outside world.

In the future, Sanlongwan Sci-tech City will make every effort to focus on the construction of key regional projects, build a science and technology innovation land with high standards, create a highland of international talents in the Greater Bay Area, and enhance openness and cooperation with the outside world.

Scientific and technological innovation centering on “1+1+N” model

Nowadays, the first phase of Jihua Laboratory is put into operation, with a total of 1,400 people, 61 scientific research teams and 18 science and technology-based enterprises. Besides, a 500-million-yuan of funding has been set up for tech-related achievement transformation, and a total of 1,124 invention patents have been applied and 511 have been authorized, ranking first in laboratories of Guangdong Province.

In 2022, Sanlongwan Management Committee prepared a report on the proposal to incorporate Sanlongwan Sci-tech City into the start-up area of the Comprehensive National Science Center, exploring the development positioning and construction path of the City, and forming a “1+1+N” science and technology innovation pattern.

In June 2022, the “Brightness Initiative”, which aims to enhance the independent innovation ability of China's new display industry, was launched in Jihua Laboratory. More than 40 potential projects participants signed cooperation agreements.

The base of industry is science and technology, and the key of science and technology is talents. For example, since its official operation in April 2022, the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (Foshan) Science and Technology Achievement Transformation Center has attracted a total of 23 hardcore technology projects from Hong Kong, Shenzhen, Guangzhou and Foshan, including 8 teams from Hong Kong and Macao.

More than 20 billion yuan investment of industrial projects

The investment boom is a sign of high-speed development and a prerequisite for high-quality development. In 2022, 45 projects were constructed by the Sanlongwan Management Committee, with a total planned investment of about 7.008 billion yuan. A cumulative 8.338 billion yuan has been completed and the progress goes faster than the plan at the beginning of the year.

In this process, the municipal financial investment projects that play a leading role in planning take the initiative to advance. For example, the traffic and landscape engineering of Sanlongwan Avenue and its connected roads have been completed and accepted.

In 2022, Sanlongwan continued to import high-quality industrial resources to build a manufacturing innovation highland. As of December, 14 new industrial projects have been signed, with a total planned investment of 7.519 billion yuan, including three investment projects of over 1 billion yuan. In addition, Sanlongwan Management Committee has 13 projects under negotiation, with a planned total investment of 12.989 billion yuan.

Attraction to young talents

Sanlongwan not only provides great offers for investment and job opportunities, but also becomes more appealing to young people.

In November 2022, Sanlongwan Art and Cultural Week was held, with a number of wonderful art and cultural activities such as Sanlongwan Cruise Deck Concert, Life Carnival, and culture and art themed lectures, presenting an art feast for people.

The person in charge of the Management Committee of Sanlongwan Sci&tech City said that in the future, Sanlongwan will stick to the people-oriented principle and accelerate the refined construction of the city to attract young talents to live and work in Sanlongwan.

Focus on industrial exhibitions

In 2022, Tanzhou International Convention & Exhibition Center signed industrial exhibitions with an exhibition area of over 720,000 square meters, including two large-scale exhibitions and five industry-influential brand exhibitions. Among the exhibitions held by the Center in recent years, industrial exhibitions account for 83%, and the percentage of industrial market segment exhibitions reaches 85%.

The person in charge of Sanlongwan Management Committee introduced that in 2023, Sanlongwan will promote the resumption of work and business with regard to exhibitions, provide precise support for professional exhibitions in a multi-level and multi-dimensional way, and promote production with exhibitions, further improving the urban function of the exhibition area and improve the image of the area.

Cooperation with the world

For the exhibition industry, Sanlongwan strengthens the synergistic cooperation with Guangzhou and Shenzhen exhibitions.

In the Greater Bay Area, cooperation with Hong Kong and Macao is also a top priority. In 2022, Sanlongwan strengthened cooperation with Hong Kong and Macao in science and innovation. In addition, it also cooperated with Hong Kong and Macao to improve the urban support of the area.

The cooperation with Germany has been a focus of Foshan for more than a decade. After the construction of the Sanlongwan Sci&tech City started, cooperation with Germany entered a new phase.

Next, Sanlongwan plans to organize a delegation to Italy, Germany and Belgium to carry out a series of economic and trade exchange activities. Meanwhile, aiming at the new trend of increasing spillover of German enterprises' investment in China from Yangtze River Delta to the whole country, especially to the Greater Bay Area, it will attract a number of high-quality projects to settle in Sanlongwan by integrating the carrier resources of the park and building a special park for Sino-German cooperation.
