Martial arts performance on the cruise

"Wong Feihung" striking lion dancing moves to interact with tourists, "Bruce Lee" skillfully waving nunchakus on the stage... On the evening of March 5, the third Kungfu-themed ship was set off on a Sanlongwan Cruise, making it now possible for tourists to enjoy the gorgeous night scenes on both side of Dongping River and feel the charm of Foshan marital arts.

Since February 26th, a Kungfu-themed cruise featuring live performances was kicked off in Sanlongwan. Every Friday, passengers can experience first-hand a wide array of martial arts, including Wing Chun, Hong Quan, Choy Lee Fut Quan, Tai Chi and more. Other than that, delicious night porridge is also served by the performers (“night porridge” is a Cantonese slang to describe those well-trained in Kungfu).

Artists surrounded by a round of applause

"I havent practiced Kung Fu before, but now I felt like I did after I ate the porridge". Miss He joined some of her colleagues after work for the first try, thinking that incorporating marital arts performance into a night cruise is very creative.

Citizens enjoying the show

For Mr. Li, an experienced tour guide on the trip, he thinks that more and more activities have been introduced since the birth of Sanlongwan Cruise. Passengers are blessed with richer cultural experience in this brand-new Kungfu-themed show, which is much well-received so far.

Tang Long, dressed up like Bruce Lee, was the most popular performer that night. Tourists would love to take photos with him and kids were happy to learn classic Bruce Lee’ moves from him. He works as a boxing trainer in kindergarten, and sometimes, play some roles in films and movies. “I love martial arts and I hope more people do too!” he said.

Dai Zilong at Chancheng Traditional Kungfu Cultural Center hopes that this new “cruise + Kungfu” tourism model helps show the essence of Foshan Kungfu and brighten the city’s image as “World Kungfu City”. Plus, it is a platform where Kungfu lovers get to show off their talents and more artists get discovered.
