On August 15, the Academic Ranking of Word Universities (ARWU) was officially released, showing that 157 universities in the Chinese mainland was listed in the world’s 1000 leading research universities.

On the list, 14 universities in Guangdong entered the worlds top 1,000, with a total number ranking No.3 in China. Foshan University ranked No.801-No.900 in the world and No.126-No.142 in the Chinese mainland, ranking the top 1000 in the list of ARWU for the first time.

The list showed that 7 universities in China have entered top 100 of ARWU, with one more university than last year. Among them, Tsinghua University ranked 28th, Peking University ranked 45th, Zhejiang University, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, University of Science and Technology of China and Fudan University ranked 52nd, 59th, 63rd and 77th respectively. Sun Yat-sen University ranked 89th and it reached the global top 100 for the first time. So far, seven universities from  the Chinese mainland have ranked among the worlds top 100 with their "world-class" academic strength, third only to the United States and the United Kingdom, and tied for third with Australia in the world.

In recent years, Foshan University has made remarkable achievements in talent training, discipline construction, scientific research, local services, international cooperation and exchanges, etc. With increasing comprehensive educational strength, Foshan university has hit new heights in university rankings at home and abroad.

At present, there are more than 80 percent of majors in Foshan University offering service to local pillar industriesy, 14 majors being rated as national and provincial first-class professional construction points, 7 majors acquiring professional IEET certification, providing a strong driving force for the local economic and social innovation in Foshan.

So far, Foshan University has provided more than 170,000 qualified talents for the society and has won a number of national honorary titles such as the "Typical Universities for National Innovation Entrepreneurship (top 50)", the "Excellent Case for Industry-education Integration Training Base" issued by Ministry of Education of the Peoples Republic of China, etc.
