Hundreds of tables of gourmet, ringing gongs and drums, dragon and lion dance.... Guanyao Lettuce Party, a feast that has a history of over 400 years and is also one of Guangdong provincial intangible cultural heritages, will start on the 26th day of the first lunar month (March 2nd) !

 

 

每逢正月廿六，市民祈福后，会来到庙前吃生菜包，取其“包生”之意，寓意求子求福、添丁发财，生菜宴由此而来。

On this day, after praying, people will eat lettuce packages in front of the temple. Lettuce package refers to the Chinese meaning of having many kids and a happy family. It is a tasty traditional food with a wish of good luck and fortune.

 

 

吃生菜包有几个步骤，洗净生菜，放炒饭及各样小菜于生菜叶内，蘸上酱料，包成小包即可食用。甜脆可口的生菜包住多汁美味的小炒，十分诱人。每样菜都有吉祥寓意，如酸菜炒蚬肉，寓意为子孙显达；粉丝虾米，寓意长命富贵。

There are certain procedures to eat lettuce packages. After washing the lettuce, put some rice and dishes in it, add some sauces, wrap it into a package, and then have a bite of it. Succulent stir-fried dishes covered by sweet and crunchy lettuce make a special tempting flavor. And all of the dishes have good meanings in Chinese. For example, Chinese pickles fried with clam means that descendants stand out, and vermicelli fried with small shrimps means living a long and wealthy life.

每年的狮山官窑生菜会不仅筵开数百席迎接各方来客，还有龙狮汇演，上下午各一场，锣鼓喧天、人声鼎沸，热闹程度堪比春节！

Every year, Shishan Guanyao Lettuce Party not only invites guests to enjoy hundreds of tables of feasts, but also has lion and dragon dance performances in the morning and afternoon, which makes a bustling scene!

地点：佛山南海狮山官窑象岭村，或官窑其他酒店食肆

 

除了南海狮山官窑，在顺德容桂、勒流等地也将上演万人共吃生菜宴的场面。

每年的正月廿五，容桂街道有一个特殊的仪式——生菜会。生菜会是由宋代以来，一直传承至今的民间传统文化活动。参与生菜会的各界人士齐聚一堂，热热闹闹包生菜、共享美食盛宴。

On the 25th day of the first lunar month, Ronggui will hold a special ceremony——Lettuce Party. Lettuce Party is a traditional folk cultural activity that dates back to the Song Dynasty. People will gather together to enjoy a wonderful feast of lettuce.

连杜生菜会，历史上最高筵开2200围，二万多人共聚一堂品尝顺德美食，其壮观场面，引来中央电视台专程前来拍摄采访。
