The signing and foundation laying ceremony of the new strategic base for new energy car components of Anqing Welling Car Components Co., Ltd. owned by Midea held.

Anqing Welling is a brand-new strategic base invested by Midea after the Anhui welling Car Components Co., Ltd., demonstrating that another major strategic layout of Midea was implemented.

As the major strategic project of Midea, the new energy car components strategic base project has a total investment of about 11 billion yuan, of which about 6.5 billion yuan is invested in fixed assets. Project Planning PhaseⅠ covered 30.53 hectare, located in the Anqing Yuanmeng new area.

Aimed at overcoming one of the major bottlenecks on the way to build an internationally competitive base for manufacturing and modern service industries, the project mainly focuses on producing products like power steering motor, new energy vehicle electric compressor and new energy vehicle drive motor, and establishing thermal management, main drive and auxiliary/intelligent driving R&D center and national laboratory. In the future, the project may produce 60 million sets per year and achieve an annual output value of 40 billion yuan.

In the contract signing ceremony, Fu Yongjun, president of Midea, mentioned in his speech that the new energy car components base is the project with the highest investment ever. He hoped that the new base will be a new name card for Anqing and provide strong support for Anhui’s automobile industry.

The base is expected to bring momentum to the development of the new energy car components of Midea and inject new blood into Anqin’s new energy car industry.

With the goals of carbon peaking and carbon neutrality, low-carbon development has become the central issue for the whole car industry and new energy car is playing an increasingly essential role in accelerating decarbonization. In 2021, China witnessed a “new energy car boom” and the trend of electrification of cars, which could bring big changes to the car industry. Domestic sales volume of new energy cars is expected to surmount 5 million in 2022, and reach 30 million in 2030.

Midea is now forging a strategic layout in new energy car components with 6 R&D centers and 2 manufacture bases around the globe. In the next decade, the corporation will put 1 billion dollars into removing technical barriers and dedicate to becoming a solution supplier of new energy car systems.
