New progress has been made about Guangzhou-Foshan Loop Intercity Railway (hereinafter referred to as “Guangfo Loop”). The East Ring Line has made a new breakthrough in ballastless road bed construction; seven new stations will be built along the West Ring Line; the cold-running of catenary of South Ring Line has undergone successful trial run!

The Guangfo Loop consists of four sections, which mainly connect Guangzhou South Railway Station, Foshan West Railway Station, Guangzhou North Railway Station and Baiyun Airport. They are:

➤ South Ring Line: Foshan West Railway Station to Guangzhou South Railway Station;

➤  East Ring Line: Guangzhou South Railway Station to Baiyun Airport;

➤  North Ring Line: Baiyun Airport to Guangzhou North Railway Station;

➤ West Ring Line: Foshan West Railway Station to Guangzhou North Railway Station.

East Ring Line

The section between Guangzhou South Railway Station and Baiyun Airport is 46.75 kilometers long and has a design speed of 200 kilometers per hour. There are 8 stations, which are Dashi Station, Science Center Station, Pazhou Station, Financial City Station, Wisdom City Station, Longdong Station, Dayuan Station and Taihe Station.

After the completion of the project, it will link the Foshan-Zhaoqing Intercity Railway in the west and the Foshan-Dongguan Intercity Railway in the east, which will become a key line of east-west transportation trunk lines. It will connect 6 intercity lines including Foshan-Dongguan Line, Guangzhou-Dongguan-Shenzhen Line, Guangzhou-Huizhou Line, Guangzhou-Qingyuan Line, Foshan-Zhaoqing Line and Guangzhou-Foshan-Jiangmen-Zhuhai Line.

By then, it will only take half an hour to get from Guangzhou South Railway Station to Baiyun Airport, 10 minutes from Tianhe Central Business District to Guangzhou South Railway Station and 20 minutes to Baiyun Airport, realizing seamless connection between high-speed rail and airplane.

West Ring Line

On November 17, the feasibility study report of Guangfo Loop from Foshan West Railway Station to Guangzhou North Railway Station was released. The construction period is five years.

The project is located in the northeast of Foshan and the northwest of Guangzhou. The line starts from Foshan West Railway Station, passes Shishan Town and Lishui Town of Nanhai District in Foshan, Tanbu Town and Xiuquan Street of Huadu District, Jianggao Town of Baiyun District in Guangzhou, and ends at Guangzhou North Railway Station. The length of the new line is 47.01 km, including 30.5 km in Foshan and 16.51 km in Guangzhou. There are 7 stations, Shishan East Station, Dalan Station, Guanyao South Station, Hegui Station, Tanbu Station, Huadu Port Station and Shenshan North Station.

South Ring Line

Cold-running of catenary of South Ring Line

On October 19, the trial cold-running of the whole line of the South Ring section was successfully completed, which marked that the overall quality test of catenary project reached the standard, and laid a solid foundation for new stages of testing in the future.

The South Ring Line of Guangfo Loop starts from Foshan-Zhaoqing intercity field in the Foshan West Railway Station and ends at Guangzhou South Railway Station, with a total length of 35.001 km and 5 stations along the way. The design speed is 200 km per hour.
