Foshan stands on the grace land of South China like a shiny jewel, where lion dance is widely recognized as a timeless icon essential to the local culture.

由张苗监制、孙海鹏导演执导，以岭南醒狮为元素的动画电影《雄狮少年》于今日上映。

Supervised by Zhang Miao and directed by Sun Haipeng, I am What I am (《雄狮少年》), an original Chinese animation with lion dance elements, premieres today (December 17th).

《雄狮少年》讲述了被人嘲笑、不被看好的的留守少年阿娟，在一次机缘巧合下，得到与他同名少女的鼓励后，下定决心与好友阿猫、阿狗组成雄狮小队的热血励志成长故事。

Ajuan, the main character, was a left-behind teen who was always ridiculed and not popular among his peers. One coincidence came that he met a girl who has the exact same name. He was inspired by her and made up his mind to form a lion dance team with his pals Amao and Agou, which later on turned out to be an encouraging story of pain and growth.

影片是近年来为数不多的现实题材动画电影，通过对底层小人物的真实剖析，引发观众共鸣，传递出“勇敢追梦，就能创造奇迹”这一普世情感内核。影片中还有大量舞狮的动作，不乏一些高燃场面。

As one of the few realistic animated films in recent years, the work narrates a relatable story from a grass-root character. Fundamentally, it conveys an important message that miracles can be made if one keeps chasing his dream. Tons of lion dance moves are included in the film, from which viewers might feel the adrenaline moving through their veins.

电影点映期间，豆瓣已经有超过2万人参与评分，收获了8.3的高分。有观众甚至高赞影片：“在浪漫主义的土壤里，开出现实主义的花朵。”

Earlier on, the movie was released at a few cinemas for promotion, receiving an average of 8.3 (out of 10) from more than 20,000 viewers  on Douban, the biggest rating website in China. Some wrote, "the film was seeded in the soil of romanticism and bloomed a flower of realism."

影片幕后团队也是行业“顶流”——本片监制张苗曾参与过《战狼》《流浪地球》《我不是药神》等多部爆款影片；导演孙海鹏曾荣获国家新闻出版广电局2014年度“优秀动画创作人才”奖。

The film also has a top production team. Zhang Miao, the Executive Producer, has once created classics like Wolf Warriors (《战狼》), The Wandering Earth (《流浪地球》) and Dying to Survive (《我不是药神》). Director Sun Haipeng won the "Outstanding Animation Creative Talent" in 2014, issued by the State Administration of Press, Publication, Radio, Film and Television.

广东醒狮是国家级非物质文化遗产之一。每逢节庆，广东各地都会有狮队进行醒狮表演。《雄狮少年》在画风上延续优秀国产动漫的“国风”基因，把国粹中的醒狮文化融入到少年追梦的故事里，让观众跟随故事主人公一路创造奇迹，感受传统文化的独特魅力。

Guangdong Lion Dance has been listed as one of the national intangible cultural heritages. Whenever a celebration or a festival comes, there will always be lion dance performances in different areas of Guangdong province. With its Chinese-style visual effect, the animation combines the epic lion dance culture with a teen story of chasing dreams. The audience are able to follow the life path towards miracles and feel the charm of this traditional culture.
