According to the economic performance of 2021 released by Shunde on 6th February, the total industrial output value of Shunde, Foshan reached 1.14216 trillion yuan, exceeding  for the first time, which is the first district exceeding one trillion yuan in the country. The total industrial value of enterprises above designated size reached 969.268 billion yuan. The added value has increased by 10.5% and that of advanced manufacturing above designated size has grown by 8.5%.

The data showed that with only 111 square kilometers of industrial land, the average output of industrial land first exceeded 10 billion yuan per square kilometer, reaching 10.2 billion yuan. The GDP of Shunde first surpassed 400 billion yuan last year, ranking in the forefront of municipal districts in China.

As one of the most active area of China’s private economy, Shunde developed two industrial clusters totaling 300 trillion yuan for household appliances and machinery,  and two fortune 500 companies including Midea and Country Garden.

Recent years, Shunde has been continuously promoting the development of manufacturing. In the past 5 years, at least one new high-tech enterprise emerged in Shunde every day. At present, there are totally 2,886 high-tech enterprises in shunde, and the R&D investment in Shunde accounts for 4.19% of the GDP, ranking among the top counties in China.

Based on this new starting point, Shunde implements the "six expansion" plan of industry, including accelerating the construction of a new generation of industrial clusters such as electronic information, robots and advanced materials, striving to cultivate four 400-billion-level industrial clusters within 5-10 years, and to build a demonstration area for high-quality development.

Professor Lin Jiang from department of economics of Lingnan College Sun Yat-Sen University said that Shunde has become the first trillion-level district, which is an important embodiment of Guangdong’s effort to develop advanced manufacturing and promote high-quality development.
