March 31 marks the opening of Guangzhou Metro Line 22 (Phase I). For now, the total mileage run by Guangzhou Metro has topped 600 kilometers, with 294 stations.

Guangzhou Metro Line 22 (Phase I) runs from Chentougang Station to Panyu Square Station, with a total length of 18.2 kilometers spanning 4 underground stations. Now, Guangzhou South Station has become the interchange station for 3 lines (Line 2, Line 7 and Foshan Metro Line 2, while Panyu Square Station for 2 lines (Line 3 Line and Line 18).

The train now runs at the maximum speed of 160 km per hour, and an one-way journey takes about 14 minutes. An interval of around 7 minutes and 30 seconds will be kept between one train and another.

Till now, Phase II of Line 22 (Chentougang-Baietan) is now under construction. When completed, the line will run seamlessly with Fangcun-Baiyun Airport Intercity Project, and connect transportation hubs including Guangzhou Railway Station, Guangzhou Baiyun Station, Guangzhou South Railway Station and the three terminals of Baiyun International Airport. From city center to Baiyun Airport, it will only takes 30 minutes; from Nansha to Baiyun Airport, it will only takes 45 minutes.
