On July 1, the nomination list for the 2nd City for Humanity Award 2023, initiated by Sanlian Life Media, was announced. Three projects from Nanhai, including the Diejiaoxu transformation project, A Glimpse of Nanhai Museum, and Art Field Nanhai 2022, made it to the list. These projects cleverly utilize public spaces to showcase their unique features while also highlighting the urban humanistic spirit of Nanhai.

Nomination for Community Construction Award: Diejiaoxu

What is the impact of urban public spaces on humanity? The nominated Diejiaoxu has provided an answer. During the recent Dragon Boat Festival holiday, the Dragon Boat Drifting staged in Diejiao, Guicheng attracted visitors from all over the country, allowing them to experience the charm of Lingnan water town in a renovated century-old street.

The Diejiaoxu transformation project combines traditional Lingnan architecture with modern styles, creating a community-oriented experiential area that showcases the vitality of traditional culture.

Nomination for Public Space Award: A Glimpse of Nanhai Museum

The nominated A Glimpse of Nanhai Museum, located in Kuixing Pavilion, has a total construction area of 3223.30 square meters. The museum on the first floor covers an area of approximately 920 square meters.

The museum presents Nanhai's cultural and folk customs through four main thematic sections: Nanhai Impressions, Nanhai Craftsmanship, Nanhai Development Background, and Nanhai's Future. By integrating traditional elements with contemporary architectural aesthetics, the museum embodies the district's commitment to preserving its cultural roots while embracing modernity.

Nomination for Urban Innovation Award: Art Field Nanhai 2022

Under the foot of Xiqiao Mountain, people have embarked on a journey to seek art in Xiqiao Town, Nanhai District. The nomination for the Urban Innovation Award, Art Field Nanhai 2022, focuses on local culture and utilizes localized artistic methods to tell Nanhai's story. It has showcased cultural values in different areas such as Xiqiao Mountain, Pingsha Island, Taiping Market, Ruxi Village, Huanggang Village, and Tingyin Lake, etc.

Since the spring of 2023, Art Field Nanhai 2022 has become a year-round event, driving regional revitalization and enhancing the cultural value of towns and villages.

The three nominated projects showcase the architectural culture of the Lingnan water town and encourage young people to actively participate in improving Foshan's public spaces.
