Recently, the 48th ACM International Collegiate Programming Contest Asia Regional Contest (Hangzhou) was successfully concluded in Hangzhou Normal University.

The ACM team composed of Yue Jingyi, Cai Birun and Huang Jiahong, who are students from the School of Electronic and Information Engineering of Foshan University. They competed with a total of 435 teams from Peking University, Tsinghua University, Beijing Jiaotong University and other well-known universities in China. After 5 hours of intense competition, the team achieved a decent result (75th/435 teams), ranking the 5th among universities in Guangdong Province. Three students won the silver prize in the competition, representing a remarkable breakthrough of Foshan University in the worldwide highest level programming contest (Asia region).

The International Collegiate Programming Contest (ICPC) started in 1970, and it is the oldest, largest, most prestigious, and highest level undergraduate programming competition in the world, known as the ACM-ICPC competition. Each team consists of 3 team members, using a computer to solve 10 to 13 algorithm problems in C/C++, JAVA and other programming languages within 5 hours. The ranking is determined by the number of completed problems, problem-solving speed and submission times, and good teamwork and psychological quality of the team members are also examined.

Since 2020, Foshan University has strengthened the training of programming ability, and carried out a series of reforms such as computer experiments and assessment to provide a solid foundation for the ACM assembled team. The team has participated in various algorithm competitions such as ICPC, CCPC, Robocom, Blue Bridge Cup, and group Programming Ladder Competition, and has won more than 40 provincial awards and more than 20 national awards.
