On October 15, the 136th session of the China Import and Export Fair, or the Canton Fair, kicked off, attracting global buyers eager to engage in trade. Foshan enterprises seized this opportunity to showcase their cutting-edge products and embrace the global market with renewed vigor and openness.
The first phase of the fair focused on "Advanced Manufacturing", emphasizing high-tech industries and innovation. Products from Foshan enterprises were highlighted for their smart, green, and diverse features, exemplifying the region's new quality productivity and earning global admiration.
Smarter, Greener, and More Diverse Products
On the opening day, the exhibition halls were bustling as foreign buyers scoured booths for the latest innovations. Leading Foshan brands like Midea, Vanward, Galanz, and Chigo, regulars at the fair, displayed their newest advancements.
Midea's "Live Green Live Smart" theme featured a range of environmentally-friendly solutions. Notably, its gas boiler uses cutting-edge DC inverter technology, significantly reducing fuel consumption, while its new washing-drying products incorporate lifecycle carbon emission tracking, aligning with global eco-conscious trends.
Chigo's solar-powered air conditioners, celebrated for their energy efficiency and eco-friendliness, also gained praise from international buyers. According to Chigo's Overseas Marketing Manager, overseas revenue grew by more than 70% this year, highlighting the brand's global reach, especially after its recent appearance at Berlin's IFA.
Galanz, in collaboration with Whirlpool, showcased a variety of smart kitchen solutions, attracting buyers with innovative products like its multifunction microwave ovens. The company's exports grew by 15% year-on-year, with significant increases in Europe, South America, and Africa. Now, Galanz is accelerating product development and enhancing its flexible manufacturing processes to meet diverse international demands.
High-Tech "Little Giants" Power New Export Growth
Foshan's advanced manufacturing prowess was on full display, with 389 companies from the region participating, representing 54% of all exhibitors. These high-tech and specialized firms underscored Foshan's growing leadership in high-quality development.
XQL Laser, for instance, presented its newly developed laser cutting machine, which can cut through 200mm thick materials at one-third the cost of similar products. The company has invested heavily in automation, continuing to innovate and meet industry demands despite economic challenges.
According to Li Haibo, General Manager of XQL's Overseas Division, 2024 marks a critical year for the company's global expansion. With new branches in Vietnam and Pakistan and a significant presence at global trade fairs, its overseas sales have surged beyond pre-pandemic levels.
Forging Global Connections
International buyers were enthusiastic about the products on offer. First-time visitor Kumar, a business owner from Nepal, expressed his excitement at discovering innovative green products at the fair. "This platform brings the world closer and makes collaboration easier," he remarked.
Foshan's enterprises are growing alongside the Canton Fair. Hongri Technology, a veteran exhibitor, has evolved from sharing booths to showcasing its brand independently. This year, they introduced over 50 new products, including patented coffee machines that address long-standing industry challenges.
Despite global economic headwinds, Foshan's manufacturers continue to thrive, proving that their advanced, innovative products can captivate the world.
