On December 1, the Nanhai Guicheng Sanshan Half Marathon and Foshan Sanlongwan Health Run kicked off at Wenhan Lake Park in Foshan's Nanhai District. Over 10,000 runners from across the country joined the event, immersing themselves in the vibrant atmosphere of high-tech innovation and Foshan's manufacturing heritage, all while experiencing Nanhai with their own steps.
Runners, full of energy and excitement, set off at sunrise from Wenhan Lake Park, embarking on an exhilarating journey.
The marathon features a 21.1-kilometer half marathon and an 8-kilometer health run, both starting and ending at Wenhan Lake Park. The course passed through key innovation zones like Jihua Laboratory and the Sanshan Innovation Center (CTIC), as well as iconic spots such as Sanshan Forest Park, Kexin Lake, High-speed Rail Park and Dongping Waterway Greenway, highlighting the harmony between technology and nature in Nanhai District.
The event attracted over 10,000 participants, including 29 international runners. The youngest was just 2 years old, and the oldest was 76. Beyond dedicated runners, many local citizens, businesses, and organizations also joined, with teams of tech experts, foreign friends, and high-level talents taking part.
Dr. Jiang Chuntao, a member of the doctoral running team from Foshan Dayan Data Technology, shared, "It's a meaningful local event that fosters communication and promotes fitness." He noted that Nanhai has seen significant changes in technology and urban development, and this event allowed both newcomers and long-time residents to directly experience the district's culture and growth.
At the finish line, Shi Jilin won the men's half marathon in 1:07:51, while Wei Chunhua claimed the women's title in 1:17:55.
