Foshan's First Integrated Work Permit and Social Security Card for Foreigners

Starting from December 1, the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security began to implement the integration of foreigner work permits and social security cards. By loading the work permit information onto the social security card, this initiative allows foreign workers in China to access more convenient and efficient services. Foreigners with approved work permits only need to download the electronic social security card app, complete real-name authentication, and receive an electronic social security card containing their work permit information.

Since the launch of foreigner work permit services at Foshan's One-Stop Service Zone for International Talent in December 2021, there are 2,818 holders of valid Foreign Work Permits in Foshan by December 2024.

Foshan Science and Technology Bureau stated, the integration of the work permit and social security card will shorten the approval time for work permits. By merging the two processes—applying for a work permit notice before entry and applying for a work permit after entry. This provides more convenient and efficient services for international talent coming to Foshan for innovation and entrepreneurship, helping to create a welcoming talent development environment.
