December 3 is an exciting day in Dongguan as the opening ceremony for the 2021 Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Public Cultural and Tourism Products Procurement Fair (hereinafter referred to as “the Procurement Fair”) was held in the city. At the opening ceremony, Shiwan ceramics, presented as a local cultural icon, received the award for “Hometown Folk Culture & Art of Guangdong” (2021-2023). On November 3, Shiwan ceramics was also nominated “National Hometown of Folk Culture & Art ” (2021-2023).

Exchange campaigns held in the Procurement Fair have attracted a bunch of interested exhibitors.

Widely known as the capital of ceramics in South China, Shiwan has a long history of pottery making for more than a thousand years.

In the past few years, Shiwan has tried hard to promote ceramics culture and integrate it with tourism culture, especially during the digitalization process of the Shiwan Ceramics Museum. The combination of offline and online showrooms offers opportunities for citizens and visitors to know more about Shiwan ceramics and the culture behind it.
