On December 29, the groundbreaking ceremony of preparation projects of the Pearl River Delta International Airport (Guangzhou New Airport) was held in Gaoming District, Foshan, including HV transmission line relocation project and Airport Avenue (phase one) project. The construction marks a key progress of preliminary works of the airport. 

The HV transmission line relocation project includes relocating ten bridge ways (500KV, 220KV, and 110KV), removing the present 99.8 km-bridge ways, and building new air corridors with a length of 147.8km, which is valued at 1.1 billion yuan in overall investment.  

The airport avenue of the Pearl River Delta International Airport is located in Genghe Town, Gaoming District, Foshan, which starts from Hehe Road from the south and ends with the south entrance of the airport to the north, with a total length of 8.55 km. The airport avenue will be constructed under first-class highway standard and work as a urban highway. The phase one construction of the airport avenue will be 1.83km long in total, with an estimated investment of 669 million yuan.
