The Foshan-Guangzhou-Dongguan intercity railway, formerly known as Guangzhou Metro Line 28, will be reshaped and upgraded to offer more convenience to passengers when traveling in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, according to the latest approval by the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC).

 

The intercity rail between Foshan and Dongguan via Guangzhou will be changed to an N shape, connecting the city downtown areas of Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Foshan, Dongguan, Zhuhai, and Jiangmen.

When this Intercity Railway joins with the Guangzhou-Shenzhen Central Axis Intercity Railway, a rapid rail transit will be formed in the city proper of Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Dongguan and the Guangzhou-Shenzhen Science and Technology Innovation Corridor.

 

By then, it will become a second scheme to travel from downtown Guangzhou and Shenzhen, after the Guangzhou-shenzhen Intercity Railway.
