On 6th June, a capital increase agreement was signed by Guangdong Shunde Holding Group Co., Ltd. at Huagui Garden for the Shunde New Port (Phase II) Project.

The project was bidded by China Merchants Port Group Co., Ltd, which aims to pool operation experience, resource, and technological support to link the two phases project together to build the largest inland river terminal in the Pearl River Delta.

The project is set in Nanhua Village, Xingtan Town, Shunde District. Adjacent to the Phase I project in the east, Shunde Gaofu Road in the north, the project neighbors Jiangmen, Zhongshan and other cities, as it stands at the heart of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. It has been planned with 197,300 square meters, and will be built with 3 multi-purpose berths (3,000 tons), mainly for general cargo ships and some container transportation. Annually, it will have a design throughput of 3.2 million tons and a passing capacity is 1.62 million tons of general cargo, and 150,000 TEU of the container. Loading and unloading equipment and land facilities will also be available.

Strategically, Shunde New Port (Phase II) is positioned as the inland river hub port of modern logistics that accesses Xijiang River Basin and the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. As more resources are pooled into this project, we are happy to see it develop into the largest inland river terminal in PRD that integrates loading and unloading, logistics warehousing and stockpiling.

When finished, Shunde New Port (Phase II) will definitely take over some of carriage orders at the port. Hopefully, it would help with more quality inland water transportation and build a regional comprehensive transportation system.
