Xiongli No.1, a freshwater fish, is verified as a new breed. It is cultivated by Pearl River Fisheries Research Institute, Institute of Hydrobiology, Chinese Academy of Sciences and other 3 companies. So far, 7 aquatic products in Foshan have been confirmed as new breeds.

Foshan starts its fish industry over 500 years ago in Jiujiang Town, Nanhai District. Last year, 117 fish seed companies produced over 345.8 billion fish.

In recent years, Foshan has made a major breakthrough in seeding selection and new breed incubation. Up next, Foshan seeks to push forward the industry with more new technologies.
