The first group of LNG power driven vessels in Foshan is out
On September 2nd, the first group of LNG (liquefied natural gas) driven vessels is ready for use. It means that Foshan has entered the new era of green shipping.
Currently, Foshan has modified 6 LNG power driven vessels, which has achieved the highest amount in Guangdong Province. According to the scheme, there will be the modification of additional 14 vessels, meaning that the number will climb to 20 by early 2023.
Compared with diesel driven vessels, LNG ones have significant advantages like low pollution and cost, better safety. Regarding the modification, it will replace the original diesel engine with LNG engine and further install the relevant equipments like gas storage tank, control system, etc.
In recent years, Foshan actively encourages the development of inland water transportation, by issuing supportive policies and subsidies to stimulate the modification of LGN power driven vessels.
