On September 7th night, as one national dance drama been selected in the 2nd Guangdong - Hong Kong – Macao Greater Bay Area Culture and Arts Festival, Awakening lion was shown in Foshan Grand Theatre. It has received the applause of the house.
Created by Guangzhou Opera, it is the first drama in China that inspired by Guangdong intangible cultural heritage, lion dance. Based on the history of the Opium War, it is about a story of how two originally rival lion dancers form an alliance to defence the invader and protect the hometown.
Compared with traditional drama dance, it is inspired by multiple intangible cultural heritage including southern style lion dance and martial arts. For instance, the dance has incorporated the horse stance from martial arts and the convolution of lion dance, which represents the perfect harmony of strength and flexibility.
Apart from it, there will be more shows presenting in the upcoming September, including The Night Revels of Han Xizai, 25㎡ Rhapsody, Goodbye, etc.
