On September 15, the construction ceremony of Lecong Primary School Affiliated to South China Normal University was kicked off in Foshan New City, which marks a major step in regional education development. As planned, the school will be in use next September when 3,240 students can be enrolled in 72 classes. Geographically, Lecong Primary School Affiliated to South China Normal University access Yingui Road from the south, and Baishun from the east. The location stands 500 meters away from Xinchengdong Station. Additionally, it will be 500 meters away from Yuebu Station of the upcoming Metro Line 3. It covers a floor area of 59000 ㎡ and a total construction area of about 80,999 ㎡.

According to Xie Liqing, General Manager of the construction project, the school aims at "planting stars and lighting up the future" for students. Specifically, decorated with the style of Lingnan Academy, the school sets up three academies, respectively for lower grades, middle grades and senior grades, in order to crave a sense of belonging among students in the campus. A comprehensive teaching building will also be built to link the three academies, where students are able to learn in a diverse environment.

Interestingly, the school will also build a campus planetarium with the Lecong Junior High School affiliated to South China Normal University. Greater interconnectivity will be created between the two campuses, which will become a city landmark in Shunde District.

Next, Foshan New City will continue to speed up the construction of a number of new public schools - Foshan New Town Compulsory Education School (Junior High School) (ie Lecong Junior High School Affiliated to South China Normal University), Foshan No. 1 Middle School Shunde School, Foshan New Town Future School and so on. It seeks to build an educational highland in the Guangdong-Hong Kong- Macao Greater Bay Area.
