Recently, 18 national innovation institutes for excellent engineers were released. Remarkably, the national innovation institute for excellent engineers in advanced manufacturing industry in the Greater Bay Area (Foshan) (hereinafter referred to as “Foshan base”) is one of them.
Foshan base was funded by the Department of Education of Guangdong Province and People’s Government of Foshan in 2015, which is the first research and talent cultivation base established by the government in China. It has adopted the strategy of “One center + Colleges + Enterprises”. Supported by government subsidy, it has developed unique patterns— the issue submitted by enterprises will be collected by the government, then are distributed to colleges, and finally solved by tutors and students. This method has mitigated the deficiency of students’ innovative ability and practice.
Currently, Foshan base has worked tightly with 25 colleges and 139 Foshan enterprises, successfully cultivating over 1600 engineering talents and solving more than 2000 technical issues.
