Recently, the Department of Culture and Tourism of Guangdong Province has listed 115 units as the 8th batch of provincial intangible cultural heritage projects, among which six units are from Foshan. They are Cultural and Sports Service Center of Nanzhuang Town, Martial Arts Association of Nanhai District, Dexinzhai Food Company of Foshan, Zhongnan Wood Carving Craft Factory of Nanhai District, Cultural Development Center of Jiujiang Town and Residents Committee of Huanglian Community in Leliu Sub-District, Shunde District.

This April, People's Government of Guangdong Province released the 8th batch of provincial intangible cultural heritage items. Six intangible cultural items from Foshan as bundled trotter making skills, Jiujiang fish breeding, dragon dance, Hung Boxing(Nanhai), etc. are listed. Up to now, Foshan has 15 national intangible cultural heritage items, 56 provincial ICH items and 131 municipal ICH items.

Dexinzhai was established during the period from 1736 to 1795. Its original name was Heji Pork Shop. The shop owner Yu Haozhong made distinctive bundled trotters to meet the demand of the market.

Dragon dance is a traditional folk dance in Nanzhuang Town, which is popular in the villages of Shangyuan, Dongcun and Rongzhou. The most representative one is the dragon dance of Shangyuan village, which is an activity for villagers to maintain peace, build up the body, and pray for blessings.

Hung Boxing has a history of more than 300 years. Introduced to Nanhai since the Qing Dynasty, it has been passed down for more than 200 years. Combining the shapes and characteristics of dragons, tigers, lions, leopards, snakes, cranes, etc. with martial arts, it is powerful and very practical.
