Construction of Gaohe Harbour Port resumes after Spring Festival holiday

As one of the key provincial projects in Guangdong Province, constructions of Gaohe Harbour Port have resumed on February 6 as workers are returning to work after the Spring Festival holiday. It is expected to become one comprehensive public port, promoting the development of shipping business along Xijiang River.

According to the scheme, there will be 4 berths for 2000-ton vessels, which is capable to handle 2 3000-ton vessels at the same time. The design of the port has taken the park space of 5000-ton cargo ship into consideration. Once completed, the container throughput is expected to achieve 500k twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs) and annual processing capacity of 520k TEUs.

With a land area of 170k square meters, it consists of the working area at the front port, deposit area, supporting area for both production and living, and roads and greening systems.

Most employees have returned for work after Spring Festival. With the remaining staff returning in a week, the construction has gradually resumed since February 6th .


Stated by Kuang Mingzhi, the production manager of Gaohe Habour Port, the project started from September 2021. So far, the main body of the port has nearly finished. With 30% of total construction remaining, the main construction will be completed by June 2023 and the port will be put into operation by the end of this year.


Once completed, Gaohe Harbour Port will become one competitive regional specialized inland port for containers, which will foster the transportation between Foshan and other cities in the GBA. Meanwhile, it will significantly lower the shipping cost for both imported and exported goods, stimulating regional economic development.
