Foshan-Guangzhou-Dongguan intercity railway to start construction in September

On May 27, the 1st Greater Bay Area Modern Rail Transit Technology Forum (GBA Forum) and the 3rd Annual Meeting of the GBA Modern Rail Transit Collaborative Innovation Center were held in Guangzhou. Liu Zhicheng, General Manager of Guangzhou Metro Group, revealed that the Foshan-Guangzhou-Dongguan Intercity Railway is expected to start construction by the end of September this year.



The Foshan-Shenzhen-Dongguan Intercity Railway has been included in the "Key Construction Projects Plan for Guangzhou in 2023", stating that the project will commence construction this year. In March, the bidding for the Yuzhu-Chenjialin section of Foshan-Guangzhou-Dongguan Intercity Railway was launched. Totaling approximately 2.66 billion yuan, the bidding encompassed processes such as construction drawing review, construction project planning and surveying and comprehensive consulting.


According to the Social Stability Analysis Report of the Foshan-Guangzhou-Dongguan Intercity Railway Project (Guangzhou Section) published in November last year, the Guangzhou section (Foshan-Guangzhou border to Guangzhou-Dongguan border) spans a length of 50.6 kilometers with a total of 13 stations, including 12 interchange stations. The average distance between station and station is 3.9 kilometers, and the route passes through Guangzhou's Liwan District, Haizhu District, Huangpu District, and Zengcheng District.


The overall plan of the project shows that the 13 stations of the Guangzhou section are as follows: Fangcun, the 2nd Workers' Cultural Palace, Yile Road, Yizhou Road, Modiesha, Pazhou, Xinzhou, Yuzhu, Huangpu Station, Punan Road, Chenjialin Station, Xintang, and Nizi.
