2023 China-Foshan Greater Bay Area Kungfu Film Week to Kick Off on November 4th

On October 18, the press conference and project signing ceremony for the 2023 China-Foshan Greater Bay Area Kungfu Film Week was held in Foshan, announcing that the Kungfu Film Week will be staged in Foshan from November 4 to 12. A number of film and television enterprises as well as key projects will settle in Foshan.



With the theme "Witnessing Kung Fu through Light and Shadow, Gathering Experts in the GBA", the 2023 China-Foshan Greater Bay Area Kungfu Film Week aims to establish a widely inclusive Kungfu film and television event. During the press conference, ten featured series of activities were introduced, highlighting different aspects of the essence of kungfu. The event will encompass the opening ceremony featuring the dance drama "Wing Chun", along with a film week concert and a range of activities related to kungfu.


During the press conference, the supportive videos from renowned directors and celebrities was also revealed. Directors and stars like Alan Mak, Kara Wai, Bak-Ming Wong, Wong Cho Lam, etc., warmly invited everyone to actively participate in this year's film week activities. Additionally, well-known director Liu Weiqiang and young director Xiao Luxi shared their personal stories with Foshan, introduced the latest film projects shot in Foshan, and expressed their expectations for this year's Kungfu Film Week.



This event brought together the entire industry chain resources of Foshan's Kungfu film sector and included signing ceremonies for film and television companies as well as significant film projects. Its aim is to promote collaboration among various film projects, filmmakers, film-related organizations, and related industries, fostering resource sharing and talent exchange, and ultimately propelling the high-quality development of Foshan's Kungfu film industry.



Foshan, often associated with its rich martial arts heritage and the birthplace of Lingnan Cantonese culture, boasts globally famous Kungfu film characters such as Wong Fei-hung, Ip Man, and Bruce Lee, which have become influential symbols of resilience for the Chinese people. Li Yan, the Deputy Director of the Foshan Municipal Party Committee's Publicity Department, stated that this event is seen as an opportunity to preserve and promote Lingnan Cantonese culture, facilitate cultural exchanges between Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macau, and contribute significantly to the development of the film industry in the Guangdong-Hong Kong- Macau Greater Bay Area.
