The transfer passage of Guangzhou South Railway Station will connect Foshan Line 2 with Guangzhou Line 2 and Line 7, which is expected to be completed by the end of the year.

Once operational, citizens utilizing the interchange will benefit from a streamlined transfer process, completing the switch between metro lines within just 5 minutes. This not only enhances efficiency but also substantially reduces travel time for citizens.

On November 17, Reply on the Fare of the Urban Rail Transit Network of Guangzhou and Foshan after the East Extension of Guangzhou Line 5 and the Second Phase of Line 7 (hereinafter referred to as the "Reply") was released, announcing the change in subway fares with intercity transfer at Guangzhou South Station after the completion.,It also suggests that in the future, Guangzhou Metro Line and Foshan Metro Line will have a joint station at Guagnzhou South Railway Station, allowing intercity transfer without existing.

According to the Reply, starting from the opening day of east extension section of Guangzhou Line 5 and the second phase of Line 7, and before the barrier-free intercity transfer at Guangzhou South Station is completed, the fare will be charged according to the mileage as follows:

0 - 4 kilometers, the fare is 2 yuan;

4 - 12 kilometers, 1 yuan plus for every additional 4 kilometers;

12 - 24 kilometers, another 1 yuan for every additional 6 kilometers;

Above 24 kilometers, an additional 1 yuan for every additional 8 kilometers.

The fare price will be recalculated once citizen exits the station. Therefore, it is believed that the fare price will be lower once the barrier-free intercity transfer is completed. Also, the price is subject to discount conditions in Guangzhou and Foshan respectively.

Up to now, the East Extension Section of Guangzhou Metro Line 5 and the second phase of Guangzhou Metro Line 7 have successfully entered the operation and commissioning stage.

Simultaneously, Guangzhou Metro Line 7 Phase II stations have also undergone the handover and entered the operational testing phase with both lines expected to commence operation by the end of the year.
