On November 20, the provincial white-feather chicken breeds promotion conference, as well as the completion ceremony of breeding innovation park, were held in Foshan, Guangdong. The ceremony included the departure of the first batch of "Guangming No.2" white-feather chicken breeds.

It is said that this latest gene of "Guangming No.2" white-feather chicken breeds will have higher reproduction rate, giving 4-6 eggs in 60 weeks for every parent generation. The feed conversion ratio also lowers by 0.02 - 0.04, which makes it more competitive in weight improvement.

By the end of 2021, 3 white-feather chicken breeds, including "Guangming No.2", have receievd certification, marking a technological breakthrough in white-feather chicken breeding. Compared with international breeds, "Guangming No.2" has relatively equal reproduction efficiency but higher resistance to disease and better meat texture. Therefore, it is considered as a milestone in domestic white-feather chicken breeding field.

In the past two years, white-feather chicken breeding industry has achieved rapid growth. Nowadays, "Guangming No.2" breed has promoted to places like Liaoning, Shandong, Hebei, Shanxi and etc. As the breed is consistently upgrading its reproduction efficiency. It is expected that "Guangming No.2" would have greater market share.

To accelerate the achievement conversion in breeding industry, Guangdong has established a batch of specialized breeding innovation parks since 2020. Notably, Guangdong White-feather Chicken Breeding Innovation Park is one of the ten provincial parks. Once completed, it would reach total inventory of 300 thousands, and produce 120 million sets of parent generation and 300 million chickens every year.

As the first domestic breeding company that introduces whole genome selection technology, Xinguang Agriculture and Animal Husbandry Co., LTD will work closely with research institutions and colleges in Guangdong to foster the park development. Modern facilities for feed production, incubation, and breeding have been constructed. Additionally, big data management platform will be introduced to achieve digital and standardized operation. Through "5G + smart breeding" pattern, it enables a single person to manage over 9,000 chickens efficiently.
