This year, 2024, marks the 10th anniversary of Shunde's recognition as the "World Capital of Gastronomy." Meanwhile, the 2024 World Capital of Gastronomy (Shunde) City Exchange Event will be held from March 14 to 16 at locations including the Tanzhou International Convention and Exhibition Center and the Shunde OCT Harbour PLUS International Food Culture Exchange Center.
12 Domestic and International Gastronomy Capitals Gather in Shunde
This event will invite guests from 12 domestic and international gastronomy capitals such as San Antonio (United States), Merida (Mexico), and Buri Ram (Thailand), as well as internet-famous cities and food industries. Through activities such as cross-industry food exhibitions, star chef shows, and exchange meeting, the event aims to promote in-depth intercity and international exchanges and cooperation.
On March 15, the opening ceremony of the 2nd China International (Foshan) Pre-made Food Industry Conference will be held. Representatives from cities such as San Antonio (United States), Merida (Mexico), Buri Ram (Thailand), Kuching (Malaysia), and Madampe (Cambodia) will share their ideas around the topic "The Relation Between The Gastronomy Industry and The Sustainable Development of Cities."
Thousands of Shunde's Chefs to challenge the Guinness World Record
On March 16, cross-industry food exhibitions and Lingnan water town intangible cultural heritage experience activities will debut at Shunde OCT Harbour PLUS.
Representatives will visit Shunde OCT Harbour Plus and physically experience Shunde's unique intangible cultural heritage such as Xiangyun Silk, Cantonese Opera, lion dance and woodblock printing. By jointly creating artistic porcelain plates, they would present the diverse charm of integration, including the "Food & Art" from Shunde and Jingdezhen, "Food & Culture" from Suzhou, and "Food & Literature" from Nanjing.
Additionally, chefs from the World Capital of Gastronomy cities, renowned Chinese restaurants in Shunde will gather at Shunfeng Mountain Park to jointly challenge a Guinness World Record.
From March 14 to 16, the "Star Chef Show of Gastronomy Capitals" will be staged at Shunde OCT Harbour Plus. Chef representatives from various gastronomy capitals and chefs from 28 renowned Chinese restaurants in Shunde will showcase their culinary skills on-site and share freshly prepared delicacies with visitors and residents.
Among them, the star chef show held on March 16 will feature culinary exchanges centered around the theme of "fish" by six chefs from international gastronomy capitals, five from domestic gastronomy capitals, and one from Shunde.
