2024 GBA Martial Arts Elite Competition Held in Xiqiao, Foshan

From March 23 to 24, the 2024 Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area Martial Arts Elite Competition was held at the Feihong Memorial Hall in Xiqiao Town, Nanhai District, Foshan. Nearly 1800 participants of 125 teams from over 10 cities in GBA have attended and competed in three main categories, martial arts routines, Qigong, and kickboxing. Rewards including gold, silver and bronze were given to outstanding individual and teams.

This event was jointly guided by the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (Guangdong) Martial Arts Cultural Exchange Center and the Nanhai District Bureau of Cultural, Radio, Television, Tourism, and Sports.


This year marks the second year of the competition, following the success of the inaugural event in 2023, which received praise from various sectors of society. The competition has become a bridge and platform for cross-cultural exchange among GBA, providing martial arts enthusiasts with an excellent platform for competition and also injecting new vitality and energy into the integrated development of martial arts in the GBA.

Nanhai has a rich history of martial art culture. Historically, Nanhai was the hometown of many martial arts masters, such as Wong Fei-hung, Ip Man, Bruce Lee, and Yao Da-ning. The prevaIence of Kungfu culture has been lasting until now, with Kungfu and lion dance becoming two remarkable features to strengthen Nanhai’s cultural influence.



Wang Guanyi, president of the Nanhai District Martial Arts Association, believes that through platforms like the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Martial Arts Elite Competition, martial arts practitioners can work together to strengthen cultural exchange and development, writing a new chapter in the martial arts culture of GBA and making new contributions to the global promotion of Chinese martial arts.
