From April 8, the overall intensity of the current rainfall is expected to taper off, although central and northern Guangdong are still forecasted to receive moderate to heavy rain, according to the provincial meteorological service.
According to meteorological and hydrological monitoring, from 08:00 on April 6 to 08:00 on April 7, 95 towns and streets across the province recorded rainfall exceeding 100 millimeters, while 562 townships logged rainfall ranging from 50 to 100 millimeters.

During a meeting convened by the provincial emergency management department on April 6, it was reported that the Beijiang River continues to experience escalating water levels, with numerous rivers surpassing their respective warning thresholds, signifying a progressive flooding situation.
On April 7, the Qingyuan Hydrological Branch of the Guangdong Provincial Hydrological Bureau announced that, due to the ongoing rainfall, the flow rate at the Shijiao station on the Beijiang River in Qingyuan, Guangdong, surged to 12,000 cubic meters per second at 6:35 am on the same day.
The flow rate has established a new benchmark, surpassing the historical peak of 11,800 cubic meters per second recorded in April 1980. In accordance with the Ministry of Water Resources' guidelines on flood numbering, this event has been designated as the "First Flood of the Beijiang River in 2024".

As of 13:00 on April 7, yellow rainstorm warnings have been issued in Guangzhou’s Huadu, Yuexiu, Tianhe, Liwan, Huangpu, Baiyun, Haizhu, Zengcheng, and Panyu districts. The city has decided to activate a Level 3 emergency response for flood prevention and internal drainage effective from 13:10 on the same day. Related departments are instructed to adhere to pre-established plans and prioritize measures to prevent urban and rural flooding, mountain floods, small river floods, and landslide disasters.
Meteorological experts caution that Guangdong will persist in experiencing intense rainfall over the next two days, urging the public to maintain a high level of vigilance against potential disasters.
