Foshan China 2024-07-02 09:52

On June 30, the opening ceremony for the Shenzhen-Zhongshan Link was held. At around 10:50 AM, the link was officially opened, and trial operation began at 3 PM.

The Shenzhen-Zhongshan Link is a key project of the National Highway Network G2518. It is located about 30 kilometers north of the Humen Bridge and about 31 kilometers south of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge. Starting from the Shenzhen Airport Interchange, it extends westward across the Lingdingyang Estuary, connecting with the Nansha-Zhongshan Expressway at the Wanqingsha Interchange and landing on Ma'an Island in Zhongshan, where it connects to the Zhongshan-Kaiping Expressway. The project, which integrates "bridge-island-tunnel-underwater interchange," spans approximately 24 kilometers and is one of the most complex sea-crossing cluster projects in the world.

With the opening of the Shenzhen-Zhongshan Link, the travel time between Shenzhen and Zhongshan is reduced from two hours to less than half an hour. In the future, it will take only 15 minutes to travel from Nansha, Guangzhou to Zhongshan, and the travel time from Zhuhai and Jiangmen to Shenzhen will be reduced from over two hours to within one hour, creating a new pattern of transportation development in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.

Routes of Shenzhen-Zhongshan Link

Departing from Shenzhen

Traveling west from the Shenzhen side, the first exit on the west bank is the Cuiheng East exit, which leads to the Cuiheng New Zone in Zhongshan. Continuing straight on the main line via the Zhongshan-Kaiping Expressway, you can reach Zhongshan, Jiangmen, and the cities of Yangjiang, Maoming, and Zhanjiang in western Guangdong.

By turning from the Zhongshan-Kaiping Expressway to the Eastern Outer Ring of Zhongshan and the Guangzhou-Macao Expressway, you can reach Guangzhou, Foshan, Zhuhai, and Macau.

Departing from Zhongshan

Traveling east from the Zhongshan side, after crossing the Shenzhen-Zhongshan Bridge and the underwater tunnel, the first interchange is located within the tunnel. Upon exiting, you will connect to the Guangzhou-Shenzhen Riverside Expressway, leading to Humen, Qianhai, and Hong Kong.

Continuing straight through the main line tunnel, the first toll station exit leads to Shenzhen Airport and Bao'an District in Shenzhen.

Continuing straight on the main line, you will connect to the Shenzhen Bao'an International Airport Expressway, leading to downtown Shenzhen and Longgang District, as well as Huizhou.

Proceeding further, you will connect to the Guangzhou-Shenzhen Expressway, leading to downtown Shenzhen or Dongguan.

Departing from Foshan

From Foshan, the common driving route to Shenzhen Citizen Center is via the Guangzhou-Zhuhai West Expressway, the Guangzhou Ring Expressway, and the Guangzhou-Longchuan Expressway, crossing the Nansha Bridge and continuing along the Beijing–Hongkong & Macao Expressway to reach Shenzhen. The total distance is about 140 kilometers, with a driving time of approximately 2 hours.

The opening of the Shenzhen-Zhongshan Link helps alleviate congestion on the Nansha and Humen Bridges during holidays, serving as a traffic diversion.

The second phase of the Eastern Outer Ring Expressway in Zhongshan (the north-south extension line from Huangpu to Cuiheng) is an important transportation project connecting the cities on the west bank of the Pearl River Estuary with the Shenzhen-Zhongshan Link. The northern extension starts from Ronggui Street in the southern part of Shunde, Foshan. In the future, it will be possible to travel from Ronggui to Shenzhen in about 40 minutes via the Shenzhen-Zhongshan Link.

The toll for the entire Shenzhen-Zhongshan Link is set at 66 yuan per standard vehicle.
